Many businesses believe strongly in giving back. Whether it is to a local or national charity, they give monetary support, offer their time, and donate their products. One wine we carry, Bee’s Box Pinot Noir, assists in the survival of our greatest pollinator and the second, Rascal Pinot Noir, supports man’s best friend.
According to the Bee’s Box website, the Bee’s Box story began with a bee that grew to a swarm. Unsure of what to do with a swarm of bees on a property full of guests, we did what anyone would do – we Googled it. And so, with a brand new bee suit, a Youtube video, and a glass of wine, we set out to create our own bee’s box on the property to keep everyone safe – not least of all, the little pollinators who chose us as their home. As we became more attached to our little friends, we also became more aware of their plight (habitat loss, disease, and overuse of pesticides). Already passionate about all aspects of sustainability, we wanted to do something to help protect them. And so, Bee’s Box Wine was born. Great wines that give back 10% of the profits to organizations fighting to protect these little pollinators who have sustained us for so very long. So let’s fight the good fight together, glass of wine in hand, and say cheers to good food, fine wine, and our beautiful little pollinator friends.
The Bee’s Box Pinot Noir has a vibrant fragrance of cranberries, black cherries, nutmeg, vanilla, and oak. On the palate you notice red raspberries and plums and the silky flavors carry through to the mid-palate and finish with delicate nuances of cloves and dark roasted coffee.
The Great Oregon Wine Company website offers the following. Rascal is named after our favorite furry friend, so it’s only fitting our philanthropic efforts would be directed at The Humane Society of the United States and their heroic animal rescue efforts. We’re proud to make an annual donation to this fantastic organization in hopes all animals will one day be treated with the love and respect they deserve.
The medium bodied Rascal Pinot Noir from Oregon is fruit forward and features juicy red fruit flavors with noticeable oak on the finish and dark cherries on the nose. A slightly elevated acidity level makes this a great food wine while the integrated tannins help to keep it as a pleasant and easy drinker.
