We love our local beer here at West Vail Liquor Mart. Every month we feature a new brewery in our Beer of the Month program. We host tastings on Fridays between 4-6, and best of all the beer is offered at a steal of a price. For October, we are featuring a brewery that I am particularly excited about; Elevation Brewing based out of Poncha Springs, CO right outside Salida off Route 24.
Just a few days ago I visited the brewery/tap house on my way back in to town from a short weekend road trip to Santa Fe. I would first like to say that Elevation Brewing should be on everyone’s list of mountain breweries to visit. Not only is Elevation beautiful, sitting atop an expansive mountainside, but the beer is delicious and the staff is very friendly. They have a lot of offerings that are only available at the brewery so you can experiment with some cool new brews.
The beer that does make it out of the brewery and into cans is what we will be focusing on for the next month. Elevation’s core lineup is on sale here at the store for only $7.99/6pk, or you can try the mixed pack for a taste of a bit of everything for $15.98/12pk! The core lineup includes:
8 Second Kolsch: Probably my favorite Elevation product. 8 Second is light and refreshing but not boring. It features a light fruity vibe which makes every sip leaving you wanting another.
Little Mo Porter: Porters are a fun style for the fall. Not quite stout dark, Little Mo has a nice chocolate/coffee note and is very well made and not overbearing.
First Cast IPA: 1ST Cast, unlike most new IPAs features a nice balance. Maybe leaning more towards an English IPA, it is hoppy yet has a nice malt backbone.
Pilsner: Very refreshing with a touch of hops. Remember, Elevation is cheaper than Bud or Coors for October!
Beyond the core products, Elevation does some really cool specialty beers. These beers are $12.99 for 6pks but are worth the extra couple bucks if you are looking to try something new and exciting.
Senorita: A Horchata inspired imperial porter brewed with spices
Apis: A Belgian style Quad brewed with Honey
Double IPA: Lots o’ Hops!
Come Join us this Friday for the 1st of two Eleavtion beer tastings from 4-6 at the tasting bar.
