Mountain Distillers out of Loveland, Colorado have created a new gin “with altitude” simply called MTN Gin. Unlike the harsh “mothers ruin” gin from days of old, they have set out to craft an elegant spirit that would honor tradition, yet yield a more civilized experience. The MTN Gin is smooth and can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or in a creative cocktail. Each batch of the MTN Gin is crafted using only the finest botanicals that Colorado has to offer. Fresh citrus zest, Grapefruit, juniper, and pure Rocky Mountain snow-melt are just a few of the ingredients in MTN Gin that highlight the smooth flavor it has to offer.

The MTN Gin is a bit more subtle on the “juniper forward” style that most gins create, instead they focus on the more citrus and floral elements. By using Grapefruit in their Gin it makes for a slightly less sharp citrus taste, and instead is a bit more rounded and soft on the palate. The flavor is light and lively which makes it an excellent choice for mixing with citrus based sodas and fruit juices, yet it can definitely hold its on in any classic cocktail or straight up.

Here are a few cocktails to consider with MTN Gin:

1.5oz MTN Gin
2oz Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice
2-3 basil leaves (muddled)
Shake & strain into a martini glass then top it off with a splash of sparkling wine.

1oz Campari
1oz Sweet Vermouth
Pour over ice & serve with a twist of grapefruit.

MTN Burro

Cilantro & Jalapeno to taste, muddled
Splash of Lime Juice

Top with Ginger Beer
