What is horchata?
Horchata is the name of several kinds of traditional beverages, made from ground almonds, sesame seeds, rice barley, or tiger nuts (earth almonds). In some countries the drink is usually tan or milky white in color, and some recipes do add milk while others do not. A few other ingredients that are sometimes added for flavor are sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Though horchata was once typically homemade, it is now available in pre-made versions. In Mexico and Guatemala, horchata is made from rice, sometimes with vanilla and always with cinnamon.
So now that we know what horchata is, let’s mention a popular alcoholic offering that is available at West Vail Liquor Mart. Ballast Point, located in San Diego California, makes several beer and spirit offerings that are all quite high class. Having a plethora of authentic Mexican cuisine north of the border in San Diego, Ballast Point decided to come out with a horchata vodka. They took inspiration from local taco shops to conceive a world class horchata vodka infused with local flavor. Made with real cinnamon, rice, and vanilla; The Fugu Vodka is a high quality horchata vodka that Ballast Point has won many awards with.
